A doctoral thesis titled “News Editing of Notifications on Websites and its Role in Achieving Cognitive Satisfaction Among Users: A Study of BBC Arabic, SKY NEWS Arabia, CNN Arabic” was discussed at the College of Media, University of Baghdad. The researcher, Sima Saadoun Aziz, from the Journalism Department, presented the thesis.

The examination committee consisted of Professor Dr. Abdul Salam Ahmed Al-Samar as the chairman, Professor Dr. Suhaim Al-Shujairy as the supervisor, and the members included Assistant Professor Dr. Basim Waheed Jouni, Assistant Professor Dr. Rawa Hadi Saleh, Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Abdul Rahman, along with Professor Dr. Sherif Darwish El-Laban, an external member from the Faculty of Media, Cairo University.

The research aimed to understand the relationship between news editing of notifications on websites and its role in achieving cognitive satisfaction among users. Additionally, it sought to determine the role of notifications in increasing users’ exposure to news websites.

The results indicated that “websites focus on sending highly important notifications that do not disturb users, while also considering diversity in the formulation of notifications and content.” The research also highlighted the “websites’ interest in summary notifications, “affirming that “employing notifications increases users’ utilization of news websites.” However, it warned against “sending notifications excessively, as it can become a source of annoyance for the user audience.” End/64
