Organized by the Radio and Television Department at the College of Media, the scientific workshop titled ‘The Use of Comics and Memes in the Soft War between Russia and Ukraine’ is part of the annual plan for scientific activities in 2023.
The lecture was presented by the department head, Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Al-Qatbi, who shed light on the role of using comics and memes in soft wars and how they can be exploited as tools to influence public opinion and media.
The workshop saw the attendance of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Shakiriyah Kawkaz Al-Sarraj, who encouraged participation and interaction from the students. She emphasized the importance of addressing this vital topic in the field of media and communication, especially in the theses and dissertations of postgraduate students.
This workshop is part of the efforts of the Radio and Television Department to raise awareness and enhance knowledge about issues related to soft wars and the role of media in shaping public opinion and influencing political and social matters.”
