The Media and Public Relations Committee for the Fifth International Scientific Conference of the College of Media, and the 17th Annual Conference, titled “Media and Communication Technology and Their Role in Promoting Dialogue Between Civilizations,” held a meeting to develop a comprehensive strategy for the media coverage of the event. The meeting was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Chair of the Scientific Committee of the conference, Professor Dr. Shukria Al-Sarraj.
The meeting discussed the implementation of professional media coverage to highlight the significance of the conference and its role in promoting dialogue between civilizations. This will be achieved by utilizing various media outlets, including satellite channels, newspapers, websites, and social media platforms, to disseminate news and information about the conference activities to the public.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Sarraj emphasized the “importance of effective coordination among all committee members to ensure media coverage that highlights the importance of the conference and its role in promoting dialogue between civilizations through media and technology.”
She also pointed out the importance of “designing and printing promotional posters to be distributed on campus and in public places, as well as publishing a special newspaper that includes articles and news related to the event and its participants, contributing to spreading knowledge about this international scientific activity.”
The Chair of the Media Committee, Professor Dr. Adel Abdul Razzaq Mustaf, explained that “the committee is working on developing effective promotional strategies, including the use of digital media and social media platforms, to ensure that the conference’s media messages reach a wide audience.”
He added that “the goal of this media strategy is to highlight the research that will be presented during the conference,” while urging committee members to “follow up and document the meetings and reports of the scientific and organizational committees of the conference.”
The attendees also discussed “defining the tasks and responsibilities of the committee members and establishing a timeline for the announcements and media updates leading up to and during the conference activities. Additionally, close cooperation with media outlets is essential to ensure coverage that befits the College of Media and its leadership.”
The College of Media is scheduled to hold its scientific conference on November 27-28, 2024, with the participation of a large number of researchers from local and international universities. The conference aims to highlight the crucial role that various media outlets play in fostering dialogue between civilizations, especially in light of current global challenges such as the spread of extremist and hate speech.
