A master’s thesis titled “Employing Digital Public Relations for Social Responsibility in Shaping Institutional Image: An Analytical Study of the Facebook Page of the Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs” was discussed at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, by researcher Mustafa Munir Kadhim from the Department of Public Relations.

The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Shareef Saeed Hameed, with Assistant Prof. Hassan Abdulhadi serving as supervisor. The committee also included Assistant Prof. Riya Qahtan Ahmed and Assistant Prof. Khalaf Karim Kiyoush as an external member.

The thesis aimed to identify the social responsibility content published through digital public relations at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and its role in shaping the institution’s public image. It also examined the communication strategies adopted and the social groups receiving the greatest attention within the published social responsibility content.

The study reached several findings, most notably the ministry’s focus on communication and developmental dimensions such as partnerships, sustainable development, and digital transformation in presenting social responsibility activities. The research also found that the ministry employed various communication strategies in its publications, with media-oriented strategies ranking first. In addition, the study revealed varying levels of attention toward different social groups, as issues related to people with disabilities, unemployment reduction, and labor market regulation received moderate to high attention, while topics concerning women’s empowerment and elderly care received comparatively less focus.

The thesis recommended increasing attention to underrepresented social groups in digital publications, particularly women and the elderly, while placing greater emphasis on training, rehabilitation programs, updating vocational curricula for unemployed individuals, and protecting children from domestic violence.
