The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “Journalistic Headlines Between Arabic and English,” attended by a number of lecturers, researchers, and students, as part of its programs aimed at developing media skills and enhancing academic and professional standards.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Rasool Aliwi and Assistant Lecturer Haneen Qasim, who addressed the scientific and linguistic foundations of headline writing in both Arabic and English. They reviewed the main differences between the two journalistic schools and explained the mechanisms of constructing headlines that achieve accuracy, brevity, and attractiveness, as well as their role in effectively conveying the media message to the target audience.
The workshop witnessed active engagement from participants through questions and the discussion of practical examples of news headlines, contributing to strengthening applied understanding of journalistic editing skills and developing students’ and media professionals’ ability to produce professional headlines that meet modern academic and media standards.
This activity is part of a series of scientific events organized by the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Mass Communication, reaffirming the college’s commitment to developing the skills of its staff and students and enhancing the quality of education and training in line with rapid developments in the media sector.
