A master’s thesis entitled “Iraqi Youth’s Reliance on Arab Satellite Channels in Shaping the Image of Hassan Nasrallah” was discussed at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, by Inas Saadi Khalaf, a researcher from the Department of Radio and Television.
The examination committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Muntaha Hadi Hindi, with Assistant Professor Haider Ahmed Al-Qutbi serving as the supervisor. Committee members included Assistant Professor Rana Ali Al-Shujairi and Assistant Professor Mohammed Ismail as the external examiner.
The thesis aimed to identify the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral effects of Iraqi youth’s reliance on Arab satellite television channels. It also examined their positive and negative attitudes toward the content broadcast by these channels.
Using the survey method, the study found that Arab satellite channels have a significant cognitive influence on Iraqi youth by enhancing their perceptions of Hassan Nasrallah’s leadership, political positions, and regional role. The findings also indicated emotional effects, showing that reliance on these channels strengthens feelings of admiration, trust, and pride toward Hassan Nasrallah, influencing participants’ perceptions and evaluations of his personality and political positions.
The study further revealed notable behavioral effects, demonstrating that Iraqi youth actively engage with the content of Arab satellite channels by sharing information, seeking additional knowledge, and following issues related to Hassan Nasrallah, reflecting the channels’ influence on their media interests and attitudes.
