The College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad discussed a Master’s thesis titled “The Role of Public Relations in Shaping Public Attitudes toward the Electronic Services of the Iraqi Ministry of Trade: A Field Study of the Audience in Baghdad,” submitted by researcher Ayat Hatem Hussein.
The examination committee was chaired by Professor Jafar Shaheed Hashim, with Professor Ali Jabbar Al-Shammari as supervisor. The committee also included Assistant Professor Ria Qahtan Ahmed and Assistant Professor Laith Sabar Jaber as an external member.
The study aimed to explore the functional roles of public relations in the digital environment, specifically within the Iraqi Ministry of Trade, and its role in shaping public perceptions and attitudes toward new electronic services.
The findings indicated strong positive public attitudes toward digital transformation, as respondents viewed electronic services as the most effective means of reducing effort and combating administrative corruption.
The study recommended launching intensive awareness campaigns across social media platforms to introduce electronic services, as well as simplifying guidance materials, such as producing short videos explaining service application procedures.
The outcomes align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions, and Goal 12 on responsible consumption and production.
