The Public Relations Department at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, launched an awareness campaign titled “Awareness That Protects Your Beauty.” Prepared by student Zainab Mohammed Hadi under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Karim Musht Al-Moussawi, the campaign aims to raise women’s health awareness of the potential harms and complications associated with excessive or unsafe use of cosmetic contact lenses and emphasize the importance of eye health.

The campaign highlighted common mistakes in cosmetic contact lens use and addressed widespread misconceptions through public relations strategies and communication, media, and advertising activities. It also featured awareness posts, posters, and digital content providing accessible information on safe lens use.

The campaign focused on awareness-raising, persuasion, and audience engagement, while promoting communication with eye care specialists to provide scientifically and medically sound guidance. It also encouraged women to follow safety instructions and consult a specialist if they experience any eye symptoms or health problems.

The campaign targeted women across different age groups, particularly those interested in cosmetic contact lenses. It used various communication channels, especially social media, to reach a wider audience, promote health literacy, and encourage safe practices.

This initiative reflects the role of public relations in community service and highlights the importance of awareness campaigns in correcting unhealthy practices. Its central message emphasizes that natural beauty is safer and more beautiful, and that protecting eye health is fundamental to beauty.

The campaign aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by promoting health awareness and preventing risks associated with unsafe cosmetic practices.
